Jewish children were especially targeted during the holocaust. They were targeted because if they weren't killed then they would grow up and raise another generation of Jews. Approximately 1.1 million children were killed in concentration camps or throughout the Holocaust. Some kids who were usually over 12 were used as test subjects for medical experiments. It was very, very rare that children would survive gas chambers, and even more rare that they would survive throughout concentration camps and the Holocaust and live to tell the tale. The few that did were respected throughout their lives, although they probably couldn't ever get the horrible images of the Holocaust out of their heads. Kids were usually separated from their parents and family right when they got to the concentration camps. A lot of them died on the way to the camps from starvation, dehydration or other sicknesses.
